GZF & IGZ

The Health Center for Refugees (GZF) was founded in 2016 as a joint initiative of several Berlin stakeholders in the healthcare sector. It's an authorized outpatient clinic. The aim is to create a stable and sustainable column in the German healthcare system in order to offer the best possible care to traumatized and mentally stressed people who have experienced flight and migration.

The founding of the GZF has created a highly specialized institution that has been providing comprehensive assistance to asylum seekers in need of special protection and support due to persecution, war and displacement. Our work is based on culturally and language-sensitive treatment approaches that ensure excellent quality of care through the close integration of psychiatric and psychotherapeutic services.

The self-image of our interdisciplinary team of psychotherapists, psychiatrist and other specialists is based on the conviction that every person - regardless of origin, residence status or life history - has a right to health and respectful, humane treatment.

In order to live up to our claim, we have established a comprehensive network that integrates advisory and support organizations from the healthcare sector as well as refugee and migrant aid. We have also founded the Intercultural Health Center (IGZ) as our own company in order to be able to offer services to all individuals with migration background, regardless of their residence status.

In addition to our core medical and therapeutic services, we focus on a holistic approach to care. This aims to work closely with our partners to sustainably improve the living conditions of the people we care for and to give them hope and prospects.

The Intercultural Health Center (IGZ) was founded in 2021 as an independent medical care center to complement the services offered by the Health Center for Refugees (GZF). The culturally sensitive and holistic treatment approach of the IGZ is based on the same principles as the GZF.

The IGZ enables psychotherapeutic care beyond the asylum procedure and provides needs-based services for all individuals with migration background. Refugees with secure residence status in particular benefit from specialized therapies tailored to language barriers and refugee-specific needs.
